OAK HILL COUNTRY CLUB

Private 36-hole country club located in Rochester, NY. Oak Hill CC was founded in 1901. Oak Hill CC has hosted the following major championships; Ryder Cup (1995), PGA Championship (1980, 2003, 2013), Senior PGA Championship (2008, 2019), U.S. Open (1956, 1968, 1989), U.S. Senior Open (1984), and U.S. Amateur (1949, 1998). Oak Hill CC will host the upcoming 2023 PGA Championship and the 2027 U.S. Amateur.


EMPLOYMENT DESCRIPTION

Golf Services staff members will be required to do a variety of jobs and tasks that will vary on any given day. Roles include golf cart fleet, bag room, practice tee and bag drop operations. Member service and hospitality are the focus point every day regardless of assigned role. Oak Hill's goal is to create a golf experience that exceeds our member's and guest's expectations while adhering to the vision of the golf department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Bag Room and Push Carts
      • Monitor daily play spreadsheet on the bag room computer for golf bags that need to be brought up
      • Pull golf bags from the appropriate bag slots and put on proper mode of transportation
      • Assist receiving with storing golf bags that have returned from play and help clean dirty clubs
      • Member service areas both inside and around the Golf Service Center
      • Monitor push carts and make sure there are always enough staged for daily play
      • Push carts should be staged trash-free with a clean towel, full sand bottle, and water bottle
    • Receiving & Short Game Area
      • Greet groups as they come off the course and assist members/guests with their golf bags
      • Move used clubs to far side of alcove for clubs to be cleaned
      • Clean all clubs in the bag and move to opposite side of alcove to indicate they are ready for storage (if guest bag take wherever directed, usually to Bag Drop for pick up)
      • Store member golf bags in their corresponding slots: the golf bag slot number is on their member tag and on our bag storage chart
      • Monitor short game practice area and clear greens of yellow practice balls when they start to fill up
    • Golf Cart Fleet
      • Monitor golf cart staging areas and bring golf carts down as necessary
      • Golf carts should always be staged with the key in the off position
      • Bring used golf carts to the top of the Cart Storage Facility for cleaning, once cleaned restage if necessary or park in spot that corresponds to the number on the golf cart
      • Ensure all staged clean golf carts have 2 full sand bottles, 2 wet towels, 2 waters and ice in cooler, a pencil with writing facing out, 6 tees, and an appropriate scorecard on the steering wheel
    • Bag Drop
      • Golf Service Center staff will relieve the Caddie Manager in the afternoon daily at the Bag Drop
      • Communicate with members/guests as they arrive and obtain group & transportation information. Be welcoming and hospitable, Bag drop is most often the first point of interaction for members and their guests
      • Enter correct information into the daily play spreadsheet to allow other areas of the operation to complete their responsibilities
      • Return supplies to the Golf Service Center every night as part of the closedown procedure. Any golf bags left at the Bag drop at the end of the day should be brought to reception and a sign indicating their location will be placed on the podium
    • Practice Tee
      • Set up Practice facility every morning except non-tournament Mondays
      • Ensure bag stands are filled with tees and alignment rods, pyramids are straight, and the water cooler is adequately stocked
      • Monitor level of practice golf balls throughout the shift and pick the field as necessary
      • Replenish pyramids with clean golf balls and clear the deck of any golf balls when it can be safely done
      • When on grass set the Practice tee line as close down procedure to help the next morning's openers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid driver's license for operating golf carts
  • Previous employment at a golf facility preferred but not required
  • Available at least 4 days per week and weekend availability

  • Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and dressed in accordance with Oak Hill Country Club's appearance standards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to continuously sit, stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift
  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Oak Hill's appearance standards
  • Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. over the course of a shift

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $13.20 per hour
  • Complimentary meals provided while on duty
  • Golfing privileges on certain Mondays throughout the golf season
