Job Description:

To consistently achieve the service and product delivery standards with a high degree of member care and service throughout the Grill Room and to provide an exceptional and memorable guest experience. The Grill Room Manager is responsible for assisting the Senior Food & Beverage Manager and Assistant Grill Room Manager with the overall operation of the Grill Room in accordance with Oak Hill Country Club standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional leadership qualities and management techniques to successfully lead their assigned shift.
  • Provide leadership and support to Assistant Grill Room Manager(s), servers, food runners, bussers and hostesses
  • Assists in meeting Grill Room revenue and expense budget goals and manages within budgetary restraints.
  • Actively develops processes to increase revenue in the Grill Room.
  • Work in conjunction with the Senior Food & Beverage Manager to market Grill Room and events to increase awareness and business.
  • Train and monitor all associates' performance to insure Grill Room is consistently meeting Oak Hill standards.
  • Insure internal inspection scores are maintained within guidelines.
  • Insure member satisfaction scores through member surveys are maintained within guidelines.
  • Immediately respond to any guest issues and works with the Senior Food & Beverage Manager to develop action plans to correct continuous issues.
  • Respond to any associate issues and develop action plans to correct continuous issues.
  • Maintain professional relationships with the Membership of Oak Hill in order to facilitate personalized service.
  • Assist in maintaining the dining room reservation system in conjunction with reception.
  • Plans dining room setup and floor plans/ server sections based on anticipated guest count.
  • Inspects dining room daily prior to each shift for setup, cleanliness, organization and maintenance.
  • Inspects dining room daily at the end of each shift for cleanliness, proper breakdown and to secure the areas.
  • Creates and implements a daily and weekly sidework duties list for all servers, runners and managers in the Grill Room.
  • Insures all daily side work is completed and that all cleaning of the dining room and equipment is accomplished according to schedule.
  • Serves as the liaison between the dining room and kitchen.
  • Works with the Executive Chef to insure the Front of House and Back of House Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to at all times by all staff.
  • Works with the Executive Chef, Grill Room Sous Chef and Communications Manager to update, review and print menu changes.
  • Works with Sous Chef, Senior Food & Beverage Manager and hosts to write and print daily dinner specials.
  • Works with the Communications Manager to review and approve upcoming dinner specials member communications.
  • Implements new menu roll outs in accordance with the New Menu Rollout Procedure to insure that all associates are trained and tested and that all support functions such as Northstar are updated on time.
  • Provides proof of training reports to the Senior Food & Beverage Manager and the Executive Chef.
  • Work in conjunction with the Beverage Manager and Sommelier to train and educate all Grill Room associates on wine and beverage offerings.
  • Participates and is able to conduct daily pre-shift meetings and quarterly department meetings.
  • Assists in scheduling all colleagues to maintain the service standards of Oak Hill Country Club while operating within budgeted labor cost guidelines. Actively adjusts schedules according to forecasted business levels.
  • Assists Senior Food & Beverage Manager to hire, train, motivate, retain, discipline, evaluate and supervise the work of Grill Room associates ensuring that that all are complying with Oak Hill Food and Beverage Vision and Values.
  • Develops and continually updates and refines training manuals for service to increase quality of service.
  • Ensure proper care, security and maintenance of club equipment through proper supervision of associates.
  • Maintain daily housekeeping and maintenance program to include storage and operational areas and associate appearance.       Reports any defective areas to Engineering.
  • Direct associates to maintain the back of the house cleanliness and safety.
  • Able to consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Perform administrative duties including daily logs, inventory and preparing supply requisitions/ ordering, payroll and associate reviews.
  • Works with the Purchasing Manager to ensure par levels of supplies are kept at consistent levels.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Insure all associates work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers, supervisors and other club departments.
  • Ensure appropriate discipline and coaching of all team members not meeting the Oak Hill Standards and Policies.
  • Must be available for all large club events as described by the Senior Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Actively manage and be present for all club events, golf outings and large events when needed.
  • In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your management.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must have full availability
  • Must be able to continuously sit, stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.
  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Oak Hill's appearance standards.
  • Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work.
  • Must be able to operate Grill Room related equipment.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to periodically lift and carry up to 30 lbs. over the course of a shift.




High school or equivalent education required. Four year hospitality degree preferred.



  • Minimum of 1-2 years as restaurant supervisor or above at an upscale hotel, restaurant or country club.
  • Country club experience strongly preferred.


Licenses & Certificates:

  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
  • TIPS or Barcode or related alcohol service certification is preferred.
  • Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) membership is preferred.
